The Web According to Google #85:Resistance is Futile
I was exploring all the things that google had to offer. I never realized all the things that were so easy to look up or explore. Most of the time I use google to search items in the Houston area. I like being able to search for particular items and where to go get them. It works alot faster than making phone calls. I didn't know that google had a book section. This was a new experience that really opened a lot of doors. Searching for certain books will make things easier for me and my son. We are always looking for text books for his college classes. I'm not too sure about the experiment section. I looked at different ones, but I'm not sure I want to dabble too much with this. I enjoy using Google for numerous things. The Google book section could be used in the library for people looking for certain magazines or books that we may not have. There are some customers that would like more information on books that we don't carry before they buy them.

# 74 Social Petworking
I was able to set up a webpage for my pet "Lucky". I went under "Dogsnet" and started him an account. I will have to load a picture of him on his account. I'm sure he'll get plenty of new friends. He's such a friendly little guy. The web site was really easy to navigate. It was fill in the blank along with answering very easy questions. I thought it was fun being able to do something nice for the special PUP in my life.
#73 Losing a Friend
I was able to go to Humane Society of the United States and find a lot of information. There are several links you can go to and find how people deal with the loss of a family pet. I can see where this would help people get through their suffering. For people to be able to discuss their sorrow with other people. There are other links that allow you to post your pets name and information.
I also looked under Delta Society and their resource directory. They have people's e-mails and fax numbers listed so you can get in touch with someone fairly quickly. I think it's a good thing to have because their are people that really grieve over their pets.

#72 : Pet Health Online
I was able to take the pet-care quiz and find out how old my dog really is. I enjoyed answering the questions concerning my dogs activities and finding out how healthy my dog really is. He is very loved and I'm glad to reassure myself he is very healthy. The old calculations said my dog was 70, with these new calculations, he is only 32.5 years. What a difference! I hope he's around for a very long time.

Crafts and Hobbies# 66: Knitting and Crocheting
My grandmother taught me to crocheting when I about 8 years old. I remember doing a few pot holders and some other small items. My mom still has a few of the pot-holders. I have never learned to knit. I'm sure it would be just as much fun.
I haven't pick up yarn and needles in years. I'm sure it would come back to me with just a little practice. If I were going to crochet something, it would have to be a prayer shawl. I didn't know there were people who met and made these items until I read Debbie Macomber's series on Blossom Street. I think it would be so much fun, being able to sit around the yarn store and make a special gift for some one in need. The prayer shawl would be such an awesome gift to give someone. The person receiving the gift would know they were some one special. Just knowing the person that made it had bathe it in prayer would make you feel better in itself.
The North Channel Branch does not have a club at the time. The only way I would know to start one, is by having a sign up sheet to see if there were enough people interested. I think they would have to know up front how the program works and what their mission would be. People as a whole will work and give if they know there is a need. We would have to have a take charge person that could run with the idea, know what we have to do,and be able to present it.

Crafts and Hobbies # 63:Digital Scrapbooking
I enjoyed the digital scrapbooking exercise. I have boxes and boxes of pictures that need to be put in a book, but there is not enough hours in the day for this to happen. This is a very simple way to share your photos. The web site was very easy to navigate. I can see myself using this web site in the future. Most of our pictures are on the computer anyway. My husband will really enjoy playing with the different ways to publish and print. This will be something we can do together. It really is a fun way to store memories.
