Crafts and Hobbies# 66: Knitting and Crocheting

My grandmother taught me to crocheting when I about 8 years old. I remember doing a few pot holders and some other small items. My mom still has a few of the pot-holders. I have never learned to knit. I'm sure it would be just as much fun.
I haven't pick up yarn and needles in years. I'm sure it would come back to me with just a little practice. If I were going to crochet something, it would have to be a prayer shawl. I didn't know there were people who met and made these items until I read Debbie Macomber's series on Blossom Street. I think it would be so much fun, being able to sit around the yarn store and make a special gift for some one in need. The prayer shawl would be such an awesome gift to give someone. The person receiving the gift would know they were some one special. Just knowing the person that made it had bathe it in prayer would make you feel better in itself.
The North Channel Branch does not have a club at the time. The only way I would know to start one, is by having a sign up sheet to see if there were enough people interested. I think they would have to know up front how the program works and what their mission would be. People as a whole will work and give if they know there is a need. We would have to have a take charge person that could run with the idea, know what we have to do,and be able to present it.

Crafts and Hobbies # 63:Digital Scrapbooking

I enjoyed the digital scrapbooking exercise. I have boxes and boxes of pictures that need to be put in a book, but there is not enough hours in the day for this to happen. This is a very simple way to share your photos. The web site was very easy to navigate. I can see myself using this web site in the future. Most of our pictures are on the computer anyway. My husband will really enjoy playing with the different ways to publish and print. This will be something we can do together. It really is a fun way to store memories.

Crafts and Hobbies # 62: Decoupage

I can only remember doing decoupage when I was a little girl in elementary school.
I didn't think I would be interested in doing this craft as an adult until I looked at the pictures in Flickr. I really liked some of the ideas. I especially liked the different containers. I would like to try one of the small buckets with a Texas theme. I could use it in the kitchen to hold all my kitchen utensils.

Crafts and Hobbies: Blog # 61

My favorite from the ideas we were given were the one hour crafts. I just don't have enough hours in the day to try different ideas. I'm pretty good at following directions. I really enjoyed the dress from the two shirt idea. I think I could do this project. It was explained in detail and pictures to show what each step should consist of.
I'm more of a hands on learner. I like watching people put their ideas together. I can learn more by watching than by reading. When some one is actually showing me step by step how to complete a project, I'm more inclined to try it. I want to know the step by step process and the way each step should come together.
DIY network is the place for me. I enjoy their crafts as well as their home make overs. They really give some good advice as well as show how things start and finish.

Finding a Pet # 71 and # 72

I took the pet quiz just to find out what I should have in my home. The quiz proved I'm a dog person. I really enjoy the fun and laughter a dog can bring into a home. As I was growing up we only had one inside dog. All the rest of our dogs were big outside dogs.
We are proud owners of a miniature dachshund. We've had him for almost ten years. He is very spoiled and we love him. He has a loving personality. He has been such a great pet!
After looking at the rescue pictures and the pets that are up for adoption, I'm wondering if there's room for one more puppy in my house. There are really some cute pets that need a good home. I can't imagine not having any kind of pet in my home. We are animal lovers.
I just wish we had more room and a little more time for another pet.
